Prepare for Your Business Plan
It’s the old adage: ‘If you fail to plan, you plan to fail’. Knowing How to Make a Business Plan for an Online Business before starting your own business is just good old-fashioned common sense. You need to set yourself some goals, know what you want or need to accomplish and how you are going to get there.
First, open up your document: My Online Business. Then, skip a couple of lines below your last entry, and create a new Heading, titled: My Business Plan Preparation (14 pt. Font, Bold, & Underlined). Next, Indent, Number, and Key in the following three questions, Keying in your answers under each:
1. ‘Why’ Am I doing This?
You should always know ‘Why’ you are wanting to create a business in the first place. Is it just to have some income? Is it to have a better life for you and your family? Is it so that eventually you can have more free time to do the things in life that you really enjoy?
Really think about ‘Why’ you are wanting to do what it is you are going to do. Answer the question honestly and completely. You will need to revisit these answers often in order to make sure that you stay on track by remembering why you started this business in the first place.
2. Define My ‘What’
Your ‘What’ defines the type of company you’re going to build within your ‘Why’. Sure, it is going to be a website for Affiliate Marketing, but exactly what type of site? Will it be simply a site doing product reviews, or a site offering informative content ideas, step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish something, or a combination of all three? Always keep your options open for expansion.
Remember, your goal is not to sell products to people, but rather to point people in the right direction to locate the products that they need and/or want to solve their particular problems. You will need to be very creative in your approach.
Your ‘What’ should include a vision of what you want your company to become in two or three years. It should include: the types of products that you will be promoting, your target audience, and exactly what you are going to do to bring the information to your visitors.
3. Plan My ‘How’
Now, it is time to plan your ‘How’. This should be a set of goals that you set for yourself for: this year, next year, and the years that follow. How many posts per week do you intend to write? How many product reviews will you be able to accomplish each week?
These may be difficult questions for you to answer, since you have not really tackled any of these yet, but write down what you think that you might be able to accomplish. You can always change them in the future if you find that your original ideas are not really accurate, and you probably will. Over time, your writing skill will improve and things will become easier once you set up certain patterns to follow. You may start out only being able to write one or two post per week, and maybe a couple of product reviews, but over time you may find that you will be able to double or even triple your production.
Once you have chosen your business Field, as well as the Niche that you will pursue, and have answered those three initial questions, Save & Close your document: My Online Business. Now, it is time to create a full fledged Business Plan. That is the next step in the process for success. Many new business fail to complete this step, and that is one of the main reasons that they fail. Being successful is more than just wishing it to be. There is much work involved. It is like building a house. If you plan how you are going to build it, and begin with a strong foundation, it will likely become the dream home that you envisioned.
