How to Create Initial Pages

When I first started in my Online Affiliate Marketing Business, I did not know How to Make a Web Page for My Site. However, after going through that part of the training in  Wealthy Affiliate,  I quickly learned.

*** The following Training coincides with the Wealthy Affiliate Certification Training (green tab on the left after you log in):  Level 1 – Lesson 7. You can view that Training  HERE

Now, I will teach you how to create your first four pages; namely:

  1. About Me page
  2. Contact Me page
  3. Privacy Policy page
  4. Affiliate Disclosure page

Begin by first, logging into  Wealthy Affiliate.  Then, click on this link to go to  Level 1 – Lesson 7 Training,  Begin there, by watching the video on the newSite Content’ platform. I recommend that you use the ‘Site Content’ platform to create all of your pages and posts. It has many wonderful features, including over a million free pics that you can use.

Create Your About Me Page

Once you have watched the video, open up ‘Site Content’, by clicking on the: Siterubix’ tab on the left, then, ‘Site Content’. Then, click on: ‘Templates’ (top right), and click on the: ‘About Me’ Template.

Create your ‘About Me’ page within the ‘Site Content’ platform as follows:

  1. Choose a Title that is appropriate for your page. It is best to use either:  ‘About Me’ or ‘About (and your name’).
  2. Then, populate the content as follows:
    • Paragraph 1 – a brief Welcome to your site.
    • Paragraph 2 thru ? – Your Story – something interesting and relevant to your site.
    • Paragraph ? thru ? – a few paragraphs of Why You Want to Help People in your Niche.
    • Paragraph ? thru ? – a final paragraph or two of the Goal of Your Site

3. When your content is finished, click on the: ‘ABCbutton in the Toolbar, in order to complete a ‘Spelling and Grammar Check’. Make any necessary changes.

Publish Your Page

Now, complete the following steps to Publish your page:

  1. Click on the ‘Publish’ button.
  2. Then, click on the: ‘Choose a Websitearrow and choose your Website.
  3. Then, click on ‘Page’ or ‘Post’. (Initially, the training suggested making this a page. It has since been updated to ‘post’, in order to allow comments on it. The choice is really up to you. I, myself, prefer to keep it as a page.)
  4. Choose a User (best to choose your new User, not Admin.).
  5. Click on the ‘Publish’ button. There will be a check to verify that you are putting up unique Content. When complete and verified that your Content is unique, your page will be Published.

If, for any reason, you get an error message indicating that your content is not unique, you will need to go back in and Edit your page. Google will penalize you if you do not provide unique content. You can not simply Copy & Paste someone else’s work and expect to get Ranked well. Rewrite anything necessary, into your own words, and try Publishing again.

Double-Check Your Page for Errors

Once your page has been successfully Published, you need to go in and double-check for any errors. Do this as follows:

  1. In Site Content, click on the green button (upper right):  ‘Published:  Edit Here’. This will take you into your WordPress Dashboard, and to your page, in order to Edit it. (The page will not appear on your website until you create a Menu and point it to the appropriate Tab. This will be done in the next step.)
  2. You can also simply access this page in your WordPress Dashboard, by first logging in to your Dashboard, then, Hovering over:  ‘Pages’, and clicking on:  ‘All Pages’. Then click on:  ‘Edit’ under your page.
  3. Double-check to make sure that all of your Headers are sized correctly, that you have the proper spacing, Bolding, etc. After any changes are made, click on: ‘Update’ (blue button on right).
  4. Make sure that you scroll to the bottom and fill in your ‘Title’ (the Title of your page) and the ‘Title Description’. (Pay close attention to the Max Characters to use.)
  5. Then, click on:  ‘Update‘.
  6. You can also click on ‘Preview Changes’ (upper right) in order to view what your page will actually look like on your site. It is always best to do this, since certain spacing can appear different than in
    your Editor.

Create Your Contact Me Page

  1. Open up ‘Site Content’.
  2. Click on:  ‘Templates’ (top right), and click on the:  ‘Contact Me’ Template.
  3. Choose an appropriate Title for your page (Contact Me).
  4. Then, populate your content with a line or two of how someone should contact you via your Domain Specific Email Address.
  5. Put a link to the email address on your page.
  6. Key in:  ‘Thank you,’ and sign your page.
  7. When your content is finished, click on the:  ‘ABC’ button in the Toolbar, in order to complete a ‘Spelling and Grammar Check’. Make any necessary changes.
  8. Click on the ‘Publish’ button.
  9. Go through the remaining procedure in the same way as you did for your ‘About Me’ page, including the Double-Check Your Page for Errors portion.

Create Your Privacy Policy Page

  1. Create your ‘Privacy Policy’ page (this should never be a post). You can copy Kyle’s Privacy Policy by clicking on the appropriate Template and change the URL and Contact Email info where necessary, to your own information, or you can create your own from scratch, if you prefer.
  2. Click on the ‘Publish’ button when you are finished. Then, click on the: ‘Choose a Website’ arrow and choose your website. Then, click on ‘Page’. There will be a check to verify that you are putting up unique content, and then your page will be Published.
  3. Go through the remaining procedure in the same way as you did for your ‘About Me’ page, including the Double-Check Your Page for Errors portion.

Create Your Affiliate Disclosure Page

  1. Create an ‘Affiliate Disclosure’ page. You can copy Kyle’s if you want, by clicking on the appropriate Template or you can create your own. Remember to include your URL where appropriate throughout the page.
  2. Click on the ‘Publish button when you are finished.

Remember, none of these pages will appear on your website until you create a Menu and point it to the appropriate Tab. This will be done in the next step.

Make Final Changes or Corrections to Your Initial Pages

Once all of your pages have been Saved, Spell Checked, and Published, you will need to go into your WordPress Dashboard and make any necessary changes in each one. You can access your Dashboard as follows:

  1. Log In to  Wealthy Affiliate.
  2. Click on: Siterubix tab (on left), then Site Manager.
  3. Under your website, click on: Log in, then, Login Now.
  4. Hover over:  ‘Pages’ and click on:  ‘All Pages’. Then, choose the page that you wish to Edit. Check the following and make the desired changes:
    • Check for proper Header size and proper spacing.
    • Make sure that any links needed have been created.
    • Once you have made any necessary changes, click on: ‘Update‘ (on right).
    • You can click on:  ‘Preview Changes‘ (top right) to see what your page will look like on the web.
    • Once you are satisfied with your ‘Preview’, close the ‘Preview‘, and back in your ‘Edit‘ area, make sure that you scroll to the bottom and fill in your ‘Title’ (the Title of your page) and the ‘Title Description’. (Pay close attention to the Max Characters to use.)
    • Below those, for your ‘Privacy Policy’ and ‘Affiliate Disclosure’ pages, you should Tick the Boxes: ‘NOINDEX this page/post’ and the ‘NOFOLLOW this page/post’. These will make sure that these pages (which are duplicate content) do not get Indexed in Google. Ticking these boxes will avoid any Google penalty.
    • Click ‘Updatebutton when you are finished changing each page.

Great Job!

Your initial pages for your website have been created and Published. In the next step you will create some Menus so that these pages will be found on your site.
